Chopin impromptu no 1
on: August 04, 2018, 05:29:59 PM
need advice in Learning this piece. I have troubles with legato playing and many times i can hear my finges playing notes separately instead of playing perfect legato in the right hand,
Also have problems coordinating hands together, emphasizing long notes which technically constitute Melody, etc.
Would appreciate any advice, help.
Ellen.

Hi Ellen!
I would first of all inquire as to what these “finges” are that you are talking about.... :D
But seriously, have you done lots of slow work, hands separately, with the metronome? Play it 15 or 20 times at 1/2 speed (or even slower) and play it exactly the way you want it to be played (in terms of dynamics, phrasing and voicing.)

Judging by what you wrote, it seems that you have been working on this one for a while, so you have probably learned all the notes. If that’s true, then at this point if you cannot play it the way that you want to at 1/2 speed, then the piece might be too tough for you right now.
You might have seen one of my videos without knowing it was that nut from the forum

Thanks for answering. No, I did not learn all the notes, I was actually to give this piece up but then started practicing middle section. I definitely lack proper technique to play at a needed tempo but even at a Little slower tempo than needed i Think it still sounds good. I tried to learn hands separately, then put them together in a master section but still move tremendously slow through this piece. I would appreciate advice how to master left hand Big stretches, trills, arrpegiatto chords
Thanks again.
