How to count 16th notes within 3/8 time
on: December 01, 2018, 06:23:49 PM
Hi all

I’d love some help with regards to how to play some music which has been written in 3/8 time.

https://www.ninsheetmusic.org/download/pdf/1239 - this is the music. Please refer to the 9th bar, treble (notes F#, A, F#, C#). I’ve been counting this bar as 1(f#), & (A), 23(F#),&(C#) -1,&,23,&
Hopefully that makes sense.

I mainly want to clarify if 16th notes are worth half / & within 3/8 time. If they aren’t then what is their value?

Thanks In advance

Exactly correct: in 3/8 the eighth note gets one beat and there are two 16th notes per beat
You have written the rhythm correctly 😊
