Chopin Prelude No. 1 Op. 28 [video]
on: April 01, 2019, 08:16:28 AM
I've been having some issues interpreting this the way I envision it in my head, but I feel like I got the tempo and the piece down pretty good regardless. I'm planning on recording the complete Op. 28 Preludes eventually, but am recording the first four before taking a break from them. They are some of my favorite pieces. Any feedback is much appreciated!

Nice! Quite a beautiful sound -what digital piano is that?

I suppose it could be a bit more 'agitato', which is how Chopin marked it... also, the crescendo and stretto in the middle isn't really that noticable.

But perhaps that is how you want it? I admit it's really beautiful and sort of calm in its own way although it differs from a more traditional interpretation. Well done!

Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad that the playing sounded somewhat calm as that was part of my aim for the piece. The piano is a Yamaha Arius YDP 143. I like the sound, not as much in terms of options, but it is more of a realistic-toned piano.
Thanks to your feedback I plan to practice this piece in more of an agitato manner. I'm glad you like it!

Ask yourself, is this a song, or a dance?

Do you understand where the melodic lines begin and end?

There are many voices in this piece. Rank them in order of importance. (Melody? Bass? Inner voices?)
