Hammer filing
on: May 28, 2019, 07:47:40 PM
Hello everybody,
I have a small k15 kawai upright that I bought last year, and I have already noticed some grooves in the hammers. I have been practising from 1-2 daily hours (sometimes more but not on an everyday basis). Is this normal? How deep should the grooves be before I consider having these hammers filed?
I wonder what is considered "heavy use" of a piano like mine, and whether a higher end model would have hammer felt that last longer. I know that hammer filing can be quite expensive and I wonder how often it has to be done.
Thank you!

it is normal when in felt of hammer there are grooves. Their removal can be done by any male layman using a ladies nail file, sandpaper or heel file.
good luck,
