I've never heard of Backowicz, but maybe you were thinking of Grazyna Bacewicz? Bacewicz is a Polish woman composer in the 20t century. She wrote etudes and sonatas for the piano; they are good works and very effective for recitals. I'm actually learning her second sonata right now.

do you mean bortkiewicz?
his concerto is fine and his piano works are great, they should be preformed more often.

I meant Bacewicz But Bortkiewicz is equally interesting I know some of the choral works but didn't know he wroteextensively for the piano? The Bacewicz etudes are cool! What are the sonatas like? - Does she have a web page? Little seems to be written about her work but as a female composer for the instrument her works must be quite significant!

What a coincidence ... on this website:
https://au.msnusers.com/Cziffrania
they are just about to dedicate a few weeks solely to the music of Bortkiewicz! if you'd like any scores, be sure to visit in the next few days.
