When you post a topic, at the bottom of the page, there is a box you can check that says "check this if you wish to be notified of replies to this topic." If you check that box, every times someone replies to your topic, you will recieve an email with a link.

If you are talking about reading new topics when you come to the main page, on the left side of the topics, there are little circles. If they are blue, that means there is a new post since you were last here. If they are grey, that means there's nothing new, and you can skip that topic.

Love,

Sarah

Could someone please tell me how to attach those little blue labels that say "new"  when you start a new topic.  When I start a new topic no label appears yet it seems that many of you attach one when starting a new topic.
Thank you,
Robert.

Also, I'm wondering how some topics have got a smiley face or triangle ! mark sign in front of them?  The Miscellanious board has got both in its topics.  Does anyone know how to attach them to a new topic?

hey Sarah...
yes.. im aware of the email link that shows me someone has replied.. but that requires me to open up my email window... and it takes time..
id rather on the same site.. when u click on the headings(ex: performance.. that under my topics...it would be highlighted or something to show me someone has just replied to it)...

thank you.
and Robert.... doesn't it do that NEW thing automatically? cuz i dont have to do anything.. it just does it for you :)
thanks

Another thing I was wondering...what does the Quote/Modify box do that appears on top of every post?

Click on "Modify" and that allows you to change anything in your post.  I find it helpful for correcting spelling mistakes or adding a detail that I did not include on my original .

Robert.

Thank you Lea.  In other words I see it on my computer without the label "new" but everyone else sees the label.  Why is it then that some topics have the label "new"  and others do not?  Presumably all topics are initiated by someone which must make t each a new topic.
Please forgive my confusion.

Thank you,
Robert.

Lea,

I started a topic under "The PF website" and I can see a New button next to it, even though it was started by me!  Does anyone know why this happened?

amee + natasha,

Perhaps someone has already replied to your thread. When you start it and view it the first time, nobody else have had the time to reply to it, so you wont' see the new, but sometimes, coincidently people have seen it and replied to it, that's why they have "new" posts you haven't viewd.
