hi ChristmasCarol
i am new to the site and majored in piano (music ed) several years ago (graduated 1991). i LOVE playing music, but have not studied under a teacher, or even played for such a long time. i currently teach vocal music grades 6-12 in a very small public school in the Southern Tier of New York State. I was so very fortunate to have a former teacher GIVE me a 1922 Model A Mason & Hamlin (red mahogany), when my parents home was destroyed in a fire just a few months before i began auditioning for undergraduate music schools.
I am about to have this lovely instrument in my own possession at last and am beside myself, practically to the point of wetting my pants, in anticipation of returning to the passion of music making which drew me to the field of music to begin with.
i feel so "out of it" and am often intimidated to respond to the threads, but i LOVE reading them and gearing up for my "return" to the "playing field". i suppose i will also pick up a few students to pass on what i know and can offer to them.
this site is so inspirational to me, as one who loves to play and one who wants to be a great teacher. to those of you who get discouraged by a lack of responses, please know that there are people like me who get so much out of reading threads/replies, etc. but don't often have anything to add per se.
you people are amazing and a HUGE source of encouragement to me!! please keep up the great work!
