Wagner’s Universe in a Pianist’s Hands

One of the most thrilling performances offered at Cremona Musica this year was the Wagner by Liszt recital given by Filippo Tenisci – Italian pianist, born 1998 and celebrated for his refined interpretations and expressive mastery of the Romantic repertoire. Best standard arr. for a senior home recital?
on: December 29, 2019, 12:00:33 PM
Hi. I’m looking for some strong arrangements of standards and classics to play in an aged care centre. I’d like a mix of pieces to play as part of a recital and a second half where they could join in singing. E.g. Billy Mayerl’s Marigold, Daisy Bell (Bicycle built for two), Greensleeves etc

Ideally
- mix of periods spanning 1930s+ with a sense of nostalgia e.g music hall,
- quality arrangements that are not too simplified and around grade 5 to 8
- have both bass and treble staves (I’m not good at sight reading chord charts)
- includes lyrics
- not too jazz influenced
- some pieces that flow into others through sharing the same key

What songbooks of quality arrangements are available and have you used? What publishers?

Thanks

Andrew
