Rach 2 sonata - fingering
on: April 28, 2020, 01:53:02 PM
Hello everyone!
Currently started working on 2nd sonata from Rachmaninov and I would like to discuss fingering on this part (in the picture - I wrote there the possibilities of fingering but I will also try to write it below)
I am talking now about "main" notes in the right hand. For my hand the most comfortable fingering is to jump with 5 so the Gb 5 to Bb 5 then F with 5 and jump to Bb with 5 again
so with all the notes (even the small between those main) I play fingering
5Gb 1Gb 2Bb 3Eb 5Bb - 5F 1F 2Bb 3Db 5Bb ...
However the other way is to play first of the main notes with 4th finger and the second of main notes to play with 5th which gives it bit more fluence and legato however it is not very convenient for my hand but I saw people play it that way.
So it would go like
4Gb 1Gb 2Bb 3Eb 5Bb - 4F 1F 2Bb 3Db 5Bb
So I am not sure which way to go now. Because of the current situation I am even unable to contact my professor at the university so I hope maybe someone here could give me piece of good advice.
Thank you very much and I wish you all to be healthy.
