Percussion Instruments
on: January 29, 2005, 02:47:21 PM
Hello!
Can anyone here provide me with information on the exotic -is this the right term to use- kinds of percussion instruments? Not the standard orchestral ones but maybe on the different kinds of whistles etc used. I was a percussionist in my school band and I know that actually anything that can be hit can be called a percussion instrument (a piece called 'Variations on the Kitchen Sink' actually used pots, pans and egg beaters =)). Whistles, sirens.. anything else?
Thank you in advance  :D

One 'modern' opera requires the use of scaffolding poles. I don't know which opera, but I recall hearing about it on a radio programme on tinnitus in orchestral players. One bass player was saying that he really would not like to sit just in front of the scaffolding pole player again, for the sake of his hearing!
