Starting out with Tchaikovsky
on: June 10, 2020, 11:45:56 PM
Hi!
I am thinking about starting playing Tchaikovsky.
Just to give you some context, I am almost done with Beethoven's Piano Sonata 1 and Chopin Etude Op 10 No 3. I have been playing for 7 years.
I just want to know what are good pieces to start with Tchaikovsky. I want something challenging, but not anything extremely difficult.
Thanks so much!
Can you please answer as soon as possible.

Hi Justapianoplayer,

Just to get started, I would recommend his op.19 and Seasons op.37a, especially November. Do take a listen to Dumka though!
I hate music (and sarcasm) :)

Beethoven Sonata 18
Liszt Rhapsodie Espagnole
Prokofiev Sonata 4 op.29
Scriabin Piano Concerto

Thanks for the suggestions!
I really like the dumka, but I think maybe that can wait some time.
I also really like the nocturne from op 19.
