Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. Liszt - Un Sospiro and Ła Leggierezza
on: August 25, 2020, 03:09:54 AM
I recorded these at two diff times on the same piano. Sorry to say that because of all the quarantining the piano was quite out of tune for Un Sospiro
However I am able to use this time to learn pieces I never spent the time on before. So just learning them and moving on regardless of the piano !
It is in tune for La Leg

terrific etudes

Pity about the not-so-in-tune piano on the Sospiro, one of my favorites from Liszt. Nice sound on the Leggierezza. You’re displaying some great technique on both pieces.

thanks much ! i realized there is so much ground to cover esp in leggierezza. many techniques involved. that's why i love liszt, esp the delicate more chopinesque pieces like this.
