Beautiful calming slow-tempo Etudes??
on: September 03, 2020, 05:39:17 PM
Hello everyone!

I've been looking for a slow-tempo etude to play after Scarbo.
Something calming and beautiful from 20th century composers. Any good suggestions from  Rachmaninoff/ Scriabin are welcome:) Please no etudes from Chopin and Liszt.

I love Racmaninoff's Etude in D minor. It's not played a great deal and, when it is, as is often the case with Rachmaninoff, it is played too quickly. It's tricky though.

This version by Volodos is beautiful, especially the crescendo, which features some elegant rubato.
