Same Bourree but in a different key?
on: October 02, 2020, 12:42:15 AM
Hi all,

I just learned "Bouree in D minor" by Christoph Graupner (1683-1760).

It seemed familiar to me, like I had seen it before.

Sure enough, I learned it awhile back but it was called, "Bouree in E minor" by Leopold Mozart.

Several sources claim it to be composed by Leopold. It seems like pretty much the same piece except for the key and some double notes.

Just curious about this, Joe.

Interesting. I'm learning right now what I thought to be Graupner's GWV 827 in E minor. It's listed on Wikipedia under his name. I guess the historical records aren't clear enough to establish it's origin.
Isn't it a similar situation with Bach's/Petzold's Minuets?
