He's a very decent ragtime pianist with very cringey ads. But you've got to respect him for his chops. It says on his website that he's also been a Disneyland pianist. Some of his covers of popular songs are really good.

Finally got around to checking that out.

I don't watch a lot of "professional" youtube advertisements, but to be fair to Mr. May, if that is his real name, it's pretty close to how RL piano "guys" try to market themselves.

Right down to the keyboard necktie or scarf!

It doesn't matter:  I'm sure he's a pretty good pianist.  Then again, one of my uncles worked for a short time at either Disneyland or Knott's Berry Farm as a piano player in one of those staged sets doing generic "old time" piano picking.

I don't think the marketing nor its strategies have changed at all:  just seems a bit more garish now that more young people don't walk the streets and encounter people in clown suits waving a banner about things, so they see it all on their personal devices.

My name is Nellie, and I take pride in helping protect the children of my community through active leadership roles in my local church and in the Boy Scouts of America.  Bad word make me sad.

I'm of the same persuasion. Nice analogy.
