La Valse (Ravel) questions
on: January 03, 2021, 06:52:58 AM
1. There are a lot of "repeated" note pairs throughout the piece for both LH and RH. What are these called, and how exactly are they supposed to be played?

2.  Any advice for fingering with the third staff here? Thank you!

For the first picture, are you referencing the RH? Those are tremolos; you just rotate your wrist to quickly alternate between the chords to add texture.

For the second picture:
-I play the D-Eb-E-F-F#-G in the third staff with the left hand (3-2-1-3-2-1, with the pinky taking the Ab bass note in beat one).
-The Ab in the third staff I take with the RH thumb
-then after the Ab the left hand takes the third staff back (LH plays the Eb bass before jumping up to the G-F#-F-E-Eb 1-2-3-1-2)
-repeat
