Rach Preludes versions
on: January 24, 2021, 02:32:08 AM
Hello,
I’m going to be playing like 3-4 Rach Preludes for a recital, and was wondering what editions you guys find most reliable for his preludes. I’m kind of iffy on henle editions on romantic era composers so I need some help? Is henle still good for Rach? What is the best edition for his preludes?

Thanks in advance,
Alex

I have the Henle for Rach and I think its fine. It's a well researched Urtext after all. I would say all the big name Urtexts should be fine and the choice is a bit of a matter of taste or if you are looking for the fingerings of a specific pianist. My Henle has fingerings by Marc-Andre Hamelin, for example.
