Need help for Liebesleid!!
on: March 08, 2021, 04:39:49 PM
Hi all,
I just finished practicing Fantasie Impromptu and I have started learning Liebesleid for almost 2 weeks.
I have already finished about 1 and half sheet from this piece but my Progression is slowing down because I only have the sheet only without any fingering.
So I am here to ask for Liebesleid Piano sheet with fingering or any parts of this piece with fingering.
I am a self-learner so I don’t have anyone to ask.
Appreciate any helps!
Thanks.

Hi and welcome!
Is it the Rachmaninoff arrangement of the piece Liebeslied by Kreisler you are playing?
If you post a picture of some passage you are having trouble with, I am sure we can help you with some fingerings

Can you please help me with the fingering of any page from 2 to 10 ? All would be great.
Thanks alot.

Thanks for clarifying the arrangement. However, it's still a bit difficult to help with fingering since the section you've mentioned (pages 2 to 10) is so broad. Can you pick out a few lines, measures, phrases, or something smaller for fingering help instead?

Hi, I made some markings on page 8 (and I attached page 8 below too) but I'll also explain what I would do just in case.
For the first line, the LH and RH are mostly just alternating in those two-note groups (stem down = LH, stem up = RH). For most of them I would do 2-3, 1-3, or 1-2 (RH) or 3-2, 3-1, or 2-1 (LH).
For the second, third, and the first half of the fourth line, take the RH top melody notes with your pinky. The three notes that come before the quarter notes can likely all be done with 1-2-3 or 1-2-4. For the left hand, it'll also mostly just be 5-3-2-1 or 5-4-2-1. If there's a whole note on the bottom like in the first beat of each measure, just take it with your pinky and then cross your hand over.
The end of the fourth line and the beginning of the fifth line are pretty simple. The RH takes the top notes with 5-3 or 5-2 and then the thumb takes the bottom note. The LH holds the low E with the pinky and takes the top notes with 2-1 or something similar.
I put "simile" in a few spots to indicate that the fingering pattern continues throughout the measure. Let me know if something isn't clear.
Also - Rousseau posted a video of this piece with the MIDI visualizer. Maybe if you slow down the speed and watch his fingers you can get a better idea of how the cadenza is played.

Hi
Thanks for the help . I really appreciate your help, your explanation is really easy to understand.
Also can you help me with the fingering in the Red box? And I don't know how to play the Black one because my left hand isn't long enough so any solutions for that?
Thanks.

Hi, glad it helped. For those big LH chords, you’ll just have to roll them. I can’t reach a tenth either - there’s nothing wrong with arpeggiating big stretches.
As for the RH, I tried this section a bit myself and wrote down the fingerings that I found most comfortable. The thumb takes the bottom voice and the top voice is usually the 4th finger or pinky. There are a couple spots where you could choose between using 3 or 2, or choose between using 3 and 4.
If my fingering doesn’t quite work for you, feel free to use it as a starting point for whatever works best. This part is definitely tricky and a bit uncomfortable so just take it slow, be patient, and it should improve

Hi,
Thanks for your help, for now my progress is fine so I don’t have anything to ask more.
If I have one, I will come back here for questions.

Hi guys, it has been a long time since I posted here. I have finished learning this piece(notes) and I have been able to play it quite fluently, but I haven't been able to play it with much emotion. In the first page, since the tempo is quite fast and I use pedals in these Staccato parts, it makes these parts sound like it doesn't have Staccato in it. I have listened to some performances and I could really hear the Staccato parts in these parts. So should I not using pedals in Staccato parts or any tips to improve this? Thanks.

If you want a sharp staccato, there is no way around that you have to keep off the pedal. But you can hold the longer notes for longer. Depending on the tempo (I'm not familiar with the piece) you could press the pedal down immediately after the staccato, and release it immiedately when you play the next note, to bind stuff together. But this requires a quick foot

Thanks for the help. But I am not sure that the staccato should be sharp and clear since I think this piece is Love Sorrow and smooth pedals would definitely better than staccato here. I have tried to omit all the staccato in this piece and it sounds good to me.

I see what you mean. Sounds like an approach where those staccato notes sound slightly detached as opposed to being tightly bound in strict legato is what the composer is after. You can do that with the pedals. Sort of "la, la" instead of "laaa-aaa" if that makes sense haha
