Parent handbook - administrative guide
on: March 21, 2021, 07:40:09 PM
Folks, I’m trying to write up a handbook/administrative guide for my studio practice. Anyone here have experience writing such a document? Or have one of their own they can share? Anyone interested in taking this project on? Can compensate! Thank you 🙏🏼

What's an administrative guide or handbook?

Just a document to spell out the policies of the class for the families and students alike

I give a handout sheet of my studio policy which has information about:

1. What I pay for vs. what the parents pay for, as well as whether or not I order it in for them (I don't charge commission but I guess you could)
2. Cancellation notice
3. Rescheduling availability (also whether or not you charge a fee for that, I don't but you could if you want)
4. Lesson cost and payment method
5. My contact info
6. Who calls the shots as to whether the student is ready for an exam or not (just so pushy parents don't try to pressure you to do one earlier than the child is ready for)

All that fills just a single A4 sheet with bullet points, a short intro and outro, not sure if I have enough admin details to fill a whole handbook.

Not sure if that answers your question, but I hope so! Feel free to ask any questions further.  ;D

Also, make sure when you give it to the parents that you stress that it is important to read. I've had trouble in the past getting parents to actually read mine. I've found it useful when I give it to them to actually point out the contents of the handbook, and any important points.
