Mason & Risch Limited Toronto value?
on: April 19, 2021, 04:39:07 PM
Hi,
We are looking to sell, but don’t know the value. I am not sure where to go for this so, I thought I would try to reach out here to see if anyone can give insight on the value of my upright piano.
It’s a Mason & Risch Limited. There are two numbers inside...on the top right is 29310 and mid left is 23568.
It’s been in our basement for years...so the climate has been pretty stable. I’m no expert, but a quick look over it makes me think it’s all original.
Any insight would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

Based on S/N it should be about 100 years old:

The price can be determined only after technician evaluates its condition. Can be $100, can be $5K if it is in more or less good condition. Based on image of keyboard which does not look like 100 years old, it is not fully original, it was definitely restored. Could go for $10-15K if this was a fully restored 3 pedal model sold by a store, but in your most likely case (private seller of piano that requires restoration) I would not expect more than $1-2K unless it has some special (historic/collector) value. But again, it has to be evaluated by independent technician.

M&R 29310 has a build date of February 1912.
The instrument has been refinished with a cover stain previous to the photos. The ivory has been removed and replaced with plastic.
This the M&R series that had the interlocking pin block assembly and most of these came apart at one time or another. That would have to be checked by a local technician.
9nstrument is low financial value.

If you think it's is expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur.

Hi all! First, I apologize for replying on this post; I couldn't figure out how to start a new topic and this was the post that popped up in my Google search.
I have a Mason & Risch Toronto upright piano (inside is stamped with 30374) and I am curious about its value, if any. I can't find any information online regarding this particular model. Not sure where to start.
Thank you!
