Yamaha C2XPE
on: May 07, 2021, 05:05:32 PM
Anyone own one? Or have experience of one? As I took my keyboard back for repair, I had a go at all the grands they had in the shop. The C2XPE stole my heart. What a beauty of an instrument. Only thing I was wondering about was whether it has some sort of damping mechanism that might have been in usen in the shop? It sounded extremely soft and the keyaction was quite short. Is that normal?

Oh, and the CFX sounded ridiculously hard and unforgiving. Glad I’m not a concert pianist! Wouldn’t like to perform on one of those. The Bösendorfer’s 185sp and 214sp on the other hand were quite lovely. If only I had an extra 100k lying around..

It's an odd thing with Yamaha. I find that either they're fantastic or they are really harsh and metallic sounding. My earliest piano lessons was on a really harsh Yamaha and I cannot for the life of me understand why they'd want to make instruments that sound like that?

I agree fully. Have to test the Kawai GX2 as well to see how the sound and touch compare, it's quite a bit cheaper than the C2X.

I tend to like the sound of kawai. On some of their instruments the touch can be quite heavy. How much is the G2?
