A short introduction and question
on: July 15, 2021, 08:54:28 AM
Hello all,
I have returned to this forum after several years and am happy to see that it's still alive and kicking. I am currently preparing for a program for graduate school auditions, but while I have a few ideas for schools (CU Boulder and ASU were recommended by my teachers), but I am still trying to flesh out what exactly it will look like to pursue a master's in music, as opposed to the BA in music I'm currently finishing up. I did look at the post below asking about schools in the US, but it only seems to be partially helpful. I am looking for programs that are willing to take master's students in GE positions (not necessarily piano-related, I can competently teach music theory or keyboard skills as well), are located in cities that are affordable for a young person who has not yet established a significant income, and are competitive but not ridiculously hard to get into (for instance, I don't know if I'm quite good enough yet to make it into an elite program like USC Thornton or Peabody). I know this is specific, but many of y'all are professional pianists or teachers from what I can see, and I would hope that at least a few of you have been down the road through graduate school before.
