Serenade for Beans on a Warm Night (piano and crickets)

The crickets have been active in recent weeks making their chirps in the nighttime.  Thought I would join them in making some music at night.  One set microphones were pointed out an open window.  This is how they sound, and yes they are actually quite loud.  Interesting how it sounds when one of them takes a rest, a noticeable drop in loudness and an opening in the sound stage.  Sometimes they do make their sounds in the daytime, but not as intense.

Thank you, I love your recordings of music with animals participating.
I just spent some weeks in spain where the cicadas made beautiful electric fire drum music during the last heat wave with temperatures over 35°C, thats when they feel warm enough to give their concerts. Its the most amazing thing for me to play flute (unfortunately no place for pianos in my backpack) improvisations which turn out like those fast mediterranean dances like tarantellas or pizzicatas and them really catching musical fire as soon as you join them with an instrument.

This is quite an interesting combination. Some of the passages near the end made me wonder if the crickets might go rather well with a prepared piano.
