New journey, first time..;)
on: October 05, 2021, 03:13:37 AM
Hello my fellow musicians,

So here it comes, at 26 It’s the time to learn my first concerto and I chose the one from Grieg (well of course  ;D)
Now, considering all of the ensemble works and all of the concertos. There is obviously many things that don’t change between a normal solo piano piece and a full length concerto in terms of learning and the brain doing it’s usual job. Still, absolutely everything from tips, tricks, methods of organizing practice sessions, learning sections, time management, solving technical problems, things that helps the brain to process information, techniques that have not worked out great or that have been great in this learning journey, the different particularities (scores, timing, etc…), what aspects to watch out for. In sum, everything you wish you did or did not do. Finally, how were your experiences playing with an orchestra, what did it improve in you or in terms of your musicianship/abilities and how to deal, negotiate understand conductors in this kind of new adventure collaboration are welcomed !

PS: this can also apply to everything and not only concertos or ensemble masterpieces

Peace,

NF.

Sorry to see you haven't received any answers yet. It might be because your question is extremely broad. Could you ask about something more specific?
