Beethoven Sonatas Bosworth 176 1915
on: November 04, 2021, 06:12:38 AM
Hi,
I recently "inherited" a 1915 edition of the Beethoven sonatas edited by Franz Liszt.
After 50 years of half learning and giving up on the Pathetique I have now pushed ahead and am close to finishing it.
I have various editions in my collection and as anyone knows who's played this piece there are some parts where the fingering can be a little bit tricky.
In some of these tricky bits I have gone back to this Bosworth edition with fingering by Franz Liszt and found it very helpful.
The question I was hoping to ask of this forum is whether it would be worth my digitising this edition and making it available to interested parties for a small amount just enough to cover my expenses.
I would assume that any copyright has long since expired.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Why not? I think it would be cool to see Liszt's fingerings. You could also upload it to imslp.org if you want to make it available to the public, but I don't think you get compensated through IMSLP.

Copyright should have expired if it's from 1915.

Thanks for the suggestion - I have no interest or need to make anything out of this financially.  It should be seen as a rare and valuable resource for all pianists.
My brother is a printer.  The book would need to be carefully guillotined so that the individual pages could be properly scanned.  I will post back in a few weeks if I can arrange for this to be done.

I don't think you need to take apart the book to be able to scan it well enough for IMSLP! Or maybe I'm just horrified at the thought of guillotining a precious book of Beethoven sonatas :P
