Competition Pieces?
on: February 11, 2005, 10:41:16 PM
Hey, i plan on participating in a piano competition and they require that i send in two pieces of contrasting style on a cd. Then if i'm chosen as a finalist i would have to perform two pieces (and they don't have to be the same ones that are on the cd i send in). I have three pieces that are performance ready. They are:

                   Gershwin Prelude No. 1
                   Beethoven Sonata Op2 no 1
                   Chopin Nocturne op9 no3

So i'd be able to record any of those to send in. But by the performance date, i think i can polish up a couple pieces that i have already learned...

Bach Prelude and Fuga No 21 in Bb major
or a Granados Spanish dance no 5

Does anyone have any suggestions....????

DEFINITELY send the Beethoven sonata and Chopin nocturne on your recording. If you have a lot of time before the competition, consider learning some new pieces too...
