Suggestions for fingering LH, two bars of Goldberg V.1

Hi, how would you finger the LH in bars 25 and 26, please?

I'm looking at my score and trying to recall how I do it.

I think that's what's implied by Kurt Soldan, ed. for the Peters Edition, in his fingerings, although he doesn't completely spell it out, but my index finger in LH is used to getting a lot of play, so it's a very natural movement for me. Anyway, I just got used to doing it that way and never had any reason to deviate from the above.

I would suggest

4213 2312 4234 5313 2312 4234

The 32 cross (which is not really a cross over the thumb, the thumb moves to where the 3rd finger plays so it's in line with that finger, a shift over feel and cross mixed) synergises with the RH which use same fingers on same notes. Using the logical 5421 2 etc comes with a lot of opening and closing of hand with the expansions/contractions in the lower part of the hand (and avoiding that with the thumb simply makes thumb expansion/contractions which are not advantageous). Earlier on the LH can also use this two fingers cross/move with the thumb idea which makes life easier in bars 13+14.

Thank you all, that's very useful. These were the solutions I found too, but I wasn't sure if I'd missed something better or which of these might be best. I'm inclined towards something most like lostinidlewonder's solution, because for some reason (at the moment) I find using 4-2 on the gap of E-A and D-G confuses me and I keep missing notes. I guess I could fix that with more practice, and maybe it's useful to develop the technique, I don't know.

I've not had time to experiment much, but I might change the scalar part to 123, and thus land on the 4 again for the second of the bars so they're the same

It's encouraging to see you mention bars 13 and 14, lostinidlewonder. I do already use 4213 2312 4253 for the D major arpeggio in bar 13 - made easier by the F-sharps, I think, but then after using 53 on the low D and F#, the G major seems to suggest a similar technique
1321 2123 5153 (which isn't as easy)
so that bar 15 I'm doing the same middle finger cross over the thumb
1 3 2135 1 5.

Maybe there's something better for that G major in bar 14, but I've not found it.

You kinda forget your thumb is almost upside down sometimes when you play piano!
