Piano Repertoire
on: June 03, 2022, 12:24:22 PM
Hello there,
I am preparing an audition repertoire consisting of 2 pieces.
I was searching for a piano piece that could show the softness of my playing,
I will be playing that piece alongside Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C sharp minor and ideally they should be contrasting.
However I have around 5 weeks to learn and get the 2nd piece to performance standard.
for some context I am a student in Guildhall School of Music, aged 14, and the rachmaninoff took me around 8 weeks to get to concert standard.
Any suggestions would be very helpful, thanks!

Hmm, how about some easier Debussy piece? Debussy often requires great sensitivity and softness of touch.

I second that. Some ideas would be Reverie or The Girl With the Flaxen Hair.
1st-year Master's Program:
- Ravel Piano Concerto
- Liszt Ricordanza
- Liszt 3 Liebestraums
- Liszt 3 Sonnets

- Rhapsody in Blue
- Dante Sonata
- Schubert Sonata D.780
- Mozart Piano Quartet in Gm

Great suggestions! I was actually thinking about the Reverie or some of the preludes. Footsteps in the Snow might also work.
