Chopin Nocturne 48-1
on: August 22, 2022, 12:46:17 AM
I'm pretty sure this is my first post, so hi!  :D

EDIT: Ok.. not quite my first post it turns out...

I recently uploaded my latest rendition of this lovely Nocturne, Op. 48-1, to YT. I think it is now pretty close to where I want it, so I wanted to share it here and maybe get some feedback. I don't have a teacher now, so it's always useful to have some critique from fellow enthusiasts.
It isn't quite a note-perfect performance...the two best takes of the evening for that were lost to a camera over-heat and user-error...but it is close enough for me to be happy to share it! I hope you enjoy!

Great performance, nice piano sound (I went to your YT channel and read that you are waiting for an acoustic piano – hoping to hear you play this again when it arrives :))
You created a very special, wonderful, calm atmosphere in the slow part. Very beautifully played!
I have a small tip for the octave section: I wonder if this would be more effective if you played the chords on the first and third beats (bars 40-45) with more energetic accents, and didn't hold the keys down for so long. I'd like to have a better sense of pulse and direction there.

Thanks. I'll  try that out.
The fast octave parts are definitely my achilles heel. I just can't seem to play them both relaxed and accurately, so tend to be overly-tense. I also struggle a little with accurate pedalling there (with no half-pedal).

It's actually a CA79 I've bought...not quite an acoustic, but should be a big step up with it's full length keys.
