What is the name of this piece?
on: August 29, 2022, 06:52:39 PM
So yesterday, I was at a concert where Grigory Sokolov played.

After his amazing performance, he played multiple bonus pieces, one of which, I loved.

Unfortunately, he did not say anything about any pieces, so I have no clue which piece it was.

I have composed my own version, which I think sounds something similar to the piece (I played the melody in octaves, but I'm pretty sure they were supposed to be in chords). Keep in mind that I just slapped this together from memory, so the pitch, notes, relation between notes, and pretty much everything other than the basic melody, are most likely far off.

Here's the link:

(and the mp3 is attached)

I would appreciate any suggestions or anything else!

Thanks!

You could check the Facebook page of the society that presented the concert in case they posted the information for those looking for it. Failing that you could write to them. This being said, I don't see why performers do not always announce their encores; there will always be many more people who cannot identify the pieces than people who can. It is simply a matter of courtesy and in no way an insult to the intelligence of the public.

That's some brilliant guesswork considering what op posted! :D I was also thinking about something Rachmaninoff and went to the Etude Tableaux but nothing fit.
