Scales
on: September 09, 2022, 09:10:05 PM
I'm a 26 year old beginner and have been learning by myself.
I have an online teacher and she has been suggesting that for the B Major scale I should use the fingers 123451231234123
On the left hand.
She suggests that it is easier to use this pattern for as many scales as possible to keep the consistency.
However most places I read suggest 432143213214321
I'm assuming either way is fine?
Your views would be appreciated.

The first fingering you show, assuming you really meant it for the left hand on an ascending B major scale would be impossibly awkward. The second fingering you show is standard and, I think, definitely the one to use.

I don't understand that first fingering at all. Can you clarify?
