Competition Piece Advide
on: September 20, 2022, 11:35:07 AM
Hello, this is my first post in this forum and I would be more than happy about a few advices since I am thinking that this Forum is the best for this Topic.

I am currently searching for my last Piece of my Competition Repertoire.

My Current reportoire is
Bach Prelude and fugue C minor WTC1
Chopin Étude op 10 no 1 C Major

For my last piece, I am looking for a longer piece around 6-9minutes.
Pieces I have thought about are:
Chopin Ballade 2
Liszt Les Jeux deaux a la Villa Deste
Beethoven Appassionata 3rd mvmt
Mozart Sonata f Major no 12 1st mvmt
Saint Saens Allegro op 70
Chopin Scherzo 1,4
Chopin Nocturne Op 48 no 1
Bach/Busoni Fugue D Minor (Toc&fugue)

These are some I thought about but I am not completely satisfied with these.
Maybe one of you has another piece in their mind which is around the Difficulty of the pieces I listed.

Best Regards Jan

Is timing the only requirement?
Why are you not satisfied with any of your own ideas – is it because you don't think they fit or because you're not sure you can play them well enough?

My spontaneous thought is that maybe you could find something more stylistically different? Something from the modern era? Instead of Liszt, maybe Ravel's Jeux d'eau - or instead of a Beethoven movement, maybe something from a Prokofiev sonata?
