Sergei Bortkiewicz, Consolation in D-flat, Op 17 no. 4
on: October 25, 2022, 12:01:30 PM
A less well known, but no less beautiful consolation in D flat by the once forgotten Ukranian composer Sergei Bortkiewicz. This piece moved me deeply the first time i heard it on a Hyperion recording by Stephen Coombs back when i was a student on exchange in Montreal in 1998. Whilst not a note perfect rendition (as always!), i hope that it manages to convey the haunting melodies which moved me more than two decades ago

Thanks for posting this affecting performance of a lovely semi-rarity.
