A word of thank you
on: December 05, 2022, 07:32:44 PM
Around 14 months ago I have joined this forum as a 36 year old, practically absolute beginner to the piano. I have recieved here much encouragement and support. Then I posted a question on the forums if I ever will be able to play some classical music and you guys said YES. That meant so much to me. Meanwhile I have got a superb piano teacher. Now I am playing this piece from Bach, although much slower than on Youtube:

It's a fantastic feeling. A big THANK YOU for all  :)

Glad to hear it worked out :) As I keep saying, people generally underestimate how well you can learn piano as an adult. Teachers often perpetuate this myth, which is a pity.

Great to hear!

I'm curious to hear what you like about your teacher? :)

The following:
- First thing is that I am making visible progress.  I have made more progress in 2 months under his tuition then in 1-2 years under the tuition of my previous teacher back in elementary school (she basically only taught me to read notes from C to G on the trebble cleff)
-He is keeping his promises. He said last year showing me a piece of Bach: "You will  be able to play this in a year. Then you will start to really enjoy playing the piano". It happened exactly how he predicted.
-He is a normal guy who doesn't want to aggressively covert me to his religion (like my previous teacher did: 50% of the time we practiced piano but the other 50% of the time she was talking about her religion)
-He is a smiling, helpful and professional guy
-He has great experience in teaching as he is a professor of the local music school. He is also a head of a band.
-He is a professor of jazz piano but he completely understands that I prefer classical music.
-He is always open to suggestions
-In one word: he is great 😃

Wow, that's a first.
