Repertoire suggestions for background music
on: February 28, 2023, 01:05:32 AM
Hello, I am wondering if anyone can suggest some classical repertoire to play for family and friends, and also as background music at a restaurant/bar etc. I am currently playing at around AmusA (Australian) level? Current pieces I’m playing are: Beethoven Pathetique, Chopin Walzt Op. 69 No. 2, Einaudi.

Add some of the not-so-dramatic Chopin Nocturnes to your repertoire, some Satie, and some Debussy, and you are already well on your way. Some slow Schumann (selections from Kinderszenen for example) could also fit.

I suggest you consider also Mendehlssohn: some of 'Songs Without Words' :)

You could look at some of Beethoven's Bagatelles too (the slower ones). My favorites are in Op 119 but there is a lot of gold in there. :)
