Accountability partners?
on: April 03, 2023, 08:37:26 PM
I was wondering if anyone here would like to join me in posting some weekly/bi-weekly practise progress videos on the audition page. I have been struggling to motivate myself to finish pieces that I need to get through. Last year I employed a teacher (despite being at a similar level myself) and progressed so much faster just because I knew someone expected me to do the work. I'm not able to afford lessons right now but figured I'd try this - maybe someone here feels similarly?

Personally I was thinking of posting small sections of the 2/3 pieces that I work on followed by targets for next week. We could offer advice/encouragement to each other if people want and as it's on a public board there may be other opinions too. I assume it's kosher to use that board in such a way. Follow-up videos could be posted as replies so it wouldn't be taking up space.

What do you think?

Another thing to try is to look for some other piano students you know and get together regularly to play for each other. I just started doing this with 3 other pianists and it's a good way to get some low-pressure performance practice and gives you a date to aim for to have something sort of in shape to play for your friends.

Thanks, that's a good idea, guess I'm so used to doing things online I didn't think of trying it in person. I'll leave the offer open though just in case.

Sure! I'm new to the forum, but that sounds like fun to me.
