Sight-Reading Practice (Books/Pieces)
on: April 08, 2023, 01:19:50 PM
Dear all,

On the first of June, I'm auditioning for a conservatory. One of the things I'm going to be tested on is sight reading however, I'm not very skilled in this yet. Does someone have tips for practicing this or for pieces or books that I could use for sight reading practice? Maybe in progressive order, because I'll need some practice before I can properly sight read on the expected level.

Greetings.

This collection often gets posted on this forum, for good reason:

Apart from that, you can't go wrong reading some Clementi sonatinas, Burgmuller Studies, Heller studies, Czerny etc depending on your level

Thank you! Hopefully, these exercises are in sort of the same style as the audition, they seem really good and progressive.

Instead of me making another thread,  I'd like to ask my question here if that's ok.

is there a Cb and if so, would  I play a B ?

Thanks

Yes, Cb is the same as B, at least on the piano. Likewise, E# is F natural, Fb is E natural, B# is C natural, all as you'd expect.

Thank you brogers70,   I haven't come across Cb before.
