Iberia -- Albeniz. evocacion
on: May 11, 2023, 11:40:06 AM
Hi. I'm new here so sorry if this is the wrong place to post it.

I'm reading Evocacion from Iberia, the Albeniz piano suite... Needless to say that Ab minor makes this piece hard to sight read (at least for me!). I was wondering if anyone got a copy of this piece with fingerings. There are a lot of section in which the hands are crossed.

This is the only fingered edition I know of: https://www.boileau-music.com/en/works/iberia-vol-1-b.3654
The issue is that he rewrites a lot of the cross-handed passages- I don't think Evocacion has this problem but I remember Jerez being a particularly dramatic change- so it's a pain if his particular suggestions don't work for you!

I have the edition on IMSLP, the Urtext edition and the edition in the link I posted (I went through a period of being crazy about Iberia  ;D). The latter is the only one I know of that has fingerings, so if your teacher has an alternative edition I'd be interested to hear which it is!

Hi!
Here's his edition. It's the same as the one I found on IMLSP, except this one has fingerings and a higher quality printing.
I was right in looking for a copy with fingerings because mine overcomplicated everything!

I agree with you, this suite is a masterpiece. I hope to become familiar with Albeniz's writing soon, El puerto and El Albaicin are addictive

Thanks for sharing :)

El Albaicin is one of my favourites and it's fun to play once you get the hang of it!
