IMO The best Chopin interpreters

For many years i have been a chopinian lover and i have listened to 40 different recordings. I just want to mention who are the best in my opinion:

Waltzes = Artur Rubinstein

Preludes = Ashkenazy

Nocturnes = Samson Francois

Ballades = Krystian Zimerman

Etudes = Pollini and Anievas

Polonaises = Cyprien Katsaris

Mazurkas = Ashkenazy

Scherzos = Ashkenazy

Sonatas = Cyprien Katsaris

Sonata for Cello = Emanuel AX / Yo-Yo Ma

Concertos = Krystian Zimerman / Carlo Maria Giulini

Do you agree?

The masterpiece tell the performer what to do, and not the performer telling the piece what it should be like, or the cocomposer what he ought to have composed.

Not having listened to EVERY one of those to compare, I can't disagree.

I would add, based on the recording I heard:

Barcarolle = Ashkenazy

No, But I am very happy u picked Katsaris for Sonata and Waltz.

I would pick Pires for Nocturne, Argerich for Preludes, and take out Pollini for Etude and add someone like Browning, Cziffra or Gavirlov, Rubinstein for Mazurka, Pogorelich or Pletnev for Scherzo.

But still, very happy u picked Katsaris.

Yes, for Nocturnes I would definitely pick Maria Joao Pires

Nocturnes = Idil Biret

Ballades = Krystian Zimerman

Etudes = Pollini

Scherzos = Yundi Li

Impromtus = Yundi Li

Sonata for Cello = Martha Argeich/Rostropovich

Concertos = Idil Biret

I'm a huge Biret, I'm sure people will kill me for this.

Arrau nocturnes are awesome.

Some people complain about his audible heavy breathing, but it really does not bother me.

Yeah, i own that recording and i dont like the sound quality.
