Ray is waiting for advice piano technicians about his Soviet grand piano
on: July 18, 2023, 06:23:17 AM
I have good news for you, Ray!
This morning, I pored over yours video using a digital tuner.
I can state that the overall structure of a pitch yours piano sounding is good. Almost every key has sounds in standard, where A4 = 440 Hz. There are sounds with a decrease of about 20-25 Hz. This is perfect for the old Soviet grand piano, I’m think. However, there are a few keys that sound very out of tune. I hope you hear what of it’s sound bad. It's need tuning now, I'm think. If you have tuning hammer so do yourself
2 All the damper with a few exceptions (example F4 work is good) need to be adjusted and be well fixed as I wrote earlier. But this will be possible, if you can remove the action of the piano.
3. Several woolen head damper you can also try to press using of medical pliers (tweezer) with both sides of wool. They has very hard structure now. Do it's soft pressing.
4. Also need remove hammer's groove with a using the sandpaper or heel remover( strip off skin device)
5. You can try to adjust the pedal alone. There are two rods at the bottom of a piano pedals. There are it’s threaded and revolve here
You need to turn sostenuto screwing rod so that the dampers were raised less than it is now.
Good luck!
Yours Max
