Yamaha CLP 785, deleting empty recorded tracks
on: November 21, 2023, 02:07:41 AM
Hi to All,
I have started to record my pieces, deleting the recording is not a problem, but I am left with a number of USERSONG ‘ track ‘ which are empty.
Each time I record ( I think Usersong 1 appears ) as if the new recording would go into that empty track, but when I search for the recording it has simply indexed to the next Usersong Number.
Now I have up to 16 usersong empty track assigned areas.
Yahama Support is not terribly helpful at this time, no returned phone calls.
Any thoughts how I can delete the empty/ unused Usersong assigned areas.
Thank you for for advice in advance.
Regards
John

Hmm, I was reading the manual. Did you check the “data status” to make sure both L and R are deleted in the USERSONGxxx? They should not have an asterisk. Also, the manual seems to indicate a difference in deleting songs vs deleting tracks. Both have same procedure but there seems to be a “file mode” for basic song file operation where u delete it. This is distinguished from specific track deletion within “edit*”.
Another method might be to try another formatted flashdrive and see if it still shows the USERSONGxx. If that doesn’t, then u know there is data still in the original drive. Me think it has something to do with file mode but I don’t own a CLP 785.

Thank you ego0720,
The Manual is quite comprehensive, so I tried to isolate to track/song deletion. Did not find any Usersong information.
The L / R information had me tricked, I assume refers to hand.
I will pursue your advice, disappointed there is limited return information from Yamaha

I don’t recall exactly but it was page 44, 55-58ish, and 92-93. U won’t find anything under USERSONGxxx but it’s in the pictures (manual) when discussing deletions in those pages.
Also, Yamaha has ppl who probably have to read the manual too. On these problems, usually we have to figure it out on our own. It’s almost pointless to ask for their help as they will merely copy and paste what they believe is the answer. You will still have to apply that knowledge to your situation. Good luck!

Dear ego0720,
Thank you for the reply. Still no return call from Yamaha, but a knowledgeable store owner suggested Songuser is indicated as a File. Deleting the 16 empty Files removed all the Files.
So it appears that cancelling or deleting a ‘song / recorded music, removes what has been recorded but maintains a now empty File Songuser. Complete removal requires the Songuser File to be removed.
Oh dear, so much to come to terms with, let alone learning how to play the piano.
Regards
