New Vandewalle 'OC' Recording
on: February 02, 2024, 09:10:16 PM
Greetings,

I haven't posted here in many years and it's nice to have a reason to pop in once again. Might as well note that by sheer coincidence; it was apparently 19 years ago today that I registered on this forum. The unwavering passage of time.

Speaking of long swaths of time, it appears to be ~25 years since the last full recording of Sorabji's Opus Clavicembalisticum was released, at least until last month, when we were finally blessed with another recording, performed by Daan Vandewalle. You can pick it up on the Passacaille label.

I've ordered a copy and I look forward to listening to it. The few short samples provided by Passacaille sound clean, with a seemingly fair and measured interpretation. Has anyone else already listened to it? Or has anyone heard the OC performed live by this pianist? I always thought the next recording would come from Jonathan Powell but I'll take any thing.

Best regards,
Ruro
