Technique and Music Interpretation
on: March 25, 2024, 05:11:13 PM
Does anyone remember Guy Maier, who once was well known as one of the best teachers in the US? I feel a sense of loss and regret that his work seems almost forgotten or at worst, ignored. Sadly most of his published works, with Herbert Bradshaw, on technique, "Thinking Fingers books 1 and 2" are rarely available and not in the public domain. I have seen a small book, "The Piano Teacher's Companion," of excerpts from the Q and A section of the Etude for which he worked at one time. . This was published by his wife after his death. In this you get a feel for his personality and way of teaching. One of his colleagues was Francis Clark, whose name seems well known today. I think you might find it interesting to check out his work.
