I have a question
on: March 31, 2024, 10:55:12 AM
Hi everybody,

I am new to the forum and very excited to join this community of piano music lovers. I'm looking for classical piano music to practice and improve my skills. I especially like music with deep and complex melodies. Can anyone recommend me some classical piano pieces that are not too difficult but still challenging and develop technique?

What level are you at - - tell us some of the pieces you've played.

I would recommend you explore the Mozart and Beethoven sonata slow movements.  New students often play the Beethoven Moonlight sonata 1st movement and the Pathetique 2nd mvmt and op 49 no 1, "Andante".  If you're serious about piano you'll need a book of the Mozart sonatas, so browse those for the slower movements.  These will challenge your technique and other skills.

For something more adventurous, perhaps more emotional complexity I recommend you get a book of Scriabin preludes and play the easier ones - -
opus 11 no 4 lento
opus 11 no 21 andante
opus 11 no 22 lento
opus 15 no 1 andante
etc

p.s. my I recommend you update your subject to "beginner pieces with complex melodies".  It will get more views and function better in searches.
