How to start learning to play the piano
on: May 07, 2024, 11:56:37 PM
I have just started playing the piano(1 month ago). And I want to teach myself for a while. (I also plan to work with a teacher). But first I want to try by myself. But I don't know how to do it. Can you give me some advice? I've heard that some czerny etudes like op.599are for beginners. Should I try to play them?

I found that when I tried to follow the DIY approach I learned a lot of bad habits, a lot of incorrect fingering and a lot of poor technique. Going with a teacher was the best decision I ever made so my fingering and technique are running along well proven methods which discourage injury and aid in playing.

At this early stage, I would focus on finding beginner pieces that you like and just enjoy music. But do find a teacher who can help you establish good fundamental technique because it is super common to acquire bad habits that are hard to undo when you are self taught.
