Looking for works based on Chopin´s music.
on: May 10, 2024, 11:39:42 PM
Hello everyone! I'm trying to find music that uses themes written by Chopin, or is directly inspired by his music. I'd like to give a recital of this at some point in the future.
So far I know: -Liszt's Six Polish Songs.
-Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme of Chopin (highly doubt that I can play this)
-Mompou's Variations on a Theme of Chopin.
-Godowsky's Studies on Chopin Etudes (maybe I can play some of the "easier" ones)
-Ádes' Three Mazurkas.
I mostly like Mompou's and Ades' works, so I'd like to hear more options!

Check out Early Scriabin, which takes lots of Chopin influence coupled with a unique voice: the Op. 6 Piano sonata, Op. 8 Etudes, and Op. 3 Mazurkas definitely take a sort of extension of late Chopin innovations.
Also, have you heard Schumann's Chopin from Carnaval? That's related.

Grieg - Etude (Hommage to Chopin)
Poulenc - Nocturnes in C major and minor
Schumann - Variations on Nocturne
Scriabin - Mazurka
Tchaikovsky - Un poco di Chopin
