Which piece should I choose

So I can choose between
Chopin op 9 no 2
Tchaikovsky October
Max Reger Humoreske from Blatter und Bliten
Schubert moment musical 6
Schumann Grillen
Clara Schumann op 6 no 2
Brahms op 116 no 2
Liszt consolation no 2
Which one should I choose
Which one is most rewarding?

If it were me, I'd do the Brahms, beautiful harmonies, a complex mix of emotions, a very moving piece.

I'd pick the one you like the most as a listener.  I would also pick the Brahms but I've always liked Schuman op. 12 which Grillen is from.  I am not familiar with the Clara Schumann or the Reger pieces.

Edit:  If you are not familiar with some as a listener,  it might be worth listening to each 5 times before you make your decision.

For recital? For exam?

If former, the player will better pick a work that the audience will more likely enjoy most - good melody and/or able to show off technical skills of the player.

If latter, the candidate will better pick a work that there's lesser chance for mistakes and hence marks deduction.

For both cases, the condition precedent is that the player must be confident and apt enough to present the work.

I'm guessing that the Chopin might be the most popular choice on the list.  It is a very popular piece.  But that shouldn't sway your choice IMO.

These are for RCM 9

For me, I'd probably pick either the Tchaikovsky October, Clara Schumann's Nocturne, or Liszt's Consolation No. 2, because all of those are ones I particularly like, and have very nice melodies. If I had to pick one though, I'd pick the Nocturne, because it has a very large range of textures and expression, which could show the judge at your exam that you can handle many different things at the piano, and give you a higher chance of passing.

Different approaches in choosing:

1.   Easiest to pass: Pick the piece that is the easiest for you to play well and requires the least amount of work to pass (considering your strengths and weaknesses).
2.   Most work to pass: Pick the piece that is the hardest for you to play well and requires the most amount of work to pass (considering your strengths and weaknesses).
3.   Pick the piece that you like the most as a listener
4.   Pick the piece that you like the least as a listener.  The challenge – make it as great as possible and hopefully improve your appreciation of music.

Of course, there are many other ways to pick the piece that are not listed here.  Numbers 2 or 4 above might be a good choice if you like extra challenges.  Numbers 1 and 3 are probably the most often picked reasons of those listed.
