Good pieces for a piano and violin chamber group
Hey guys! Next year I will be playing in a chamber with a violinist, and I'm trying to find repertoire that is challenging enough but not too difficult for me to play.
I'm currently studying in a conservatoire, I don't know how grades are in other country but in my country I'm in grade 5 out 6 before attending college.
As of solo repertoire the more challenging pieces (in my opinion) I have played are:
- Chopin's Polonaise Op.40 No.1
Rachmaninoff Prelude Op.3 No.2
Czerny Etude Op.740 No.50/41/37
Bach Prelude and Fugue in D Major / D Minor
Sibelius Etude Op.76 No.2
As of chamber music I have played with two different groups, two violins and two trumpets.
The repertoire I have played is the following:
- Shostakovich's 5 Pieces for Violin and Piano
Turina Córdoba en Fiesta (arr. for 2 trumpets and piano)
I have found the following pieces which seem to be doable:
- Rachmaninoff: Romance for Violin and Piano
Dvorak: Ballade for violin and piano Op. 15
Amy Beach - Romance for violin and piano Op. 23 (this one seems more difficult)
Gabriel Fauré: Romance for Violin and Piano Op. 28 (this one also seems difficult)
Gabriel Fauré: Berceuse for Violin (Op. 16)
From the following are there any pieces that you may recommend for my level? (if they are a bit above my level so I can challenge myself it's good) The violinist is also 1 grade above me.
Thanks a lot in advance!
