Schubert 940 difficulty
on: June 29, 2024, 08:39:21 AM
Hi,
I'd like to play Schubert's Fantasy 940 with my brother for our aging parents.

We've been playing the piano for 30 years, but while I've been playing classical all this time, my brother has been exclusively playing pop music.

Younger, when we played together for fun, I would always play the chords, bass, while he would improvise on the melody.

For this Schubert's piece, do you think one part (treble or bass) would be significantly easier than the other, technically wise?
From just looking at the score, it looks like the treble part maybe more difficult. Would that be right ?

We're giving ourselves one year to produce something mildly acceptable to our parents.

Thank you

Has he agreed to this piece?

Also, yes, the treble does seem a bit more difficult technically, though both parts have musical challenges that should not be ignored.
