PF Composer Competition Challenge:
on: February 24, 2005, 03:51:58 PM
To the members of PF, I present the following challenge to all of us (talented or otherwise) who enjoy composing, to collectively assemble the following major PF piano work:

***Variations on a Theme of that Black-Knuckle Thingy***

You know how it goes.  If not, please drop by your neighborhood elementary school's upright piano at lunchtime and wait a few minutes...

RULES:
*Must be for the piano

*Can be a single variation or several

*Can openly mimic a style of your favorite composer, from Pergolesi to Led Zeppelin, or something totally unique to yourself.  If a mimic, please credit the original musician.

*Can be of any technical challenge, from that of Hot Cross Buns to that of Godowsky

Upload your recordings onto this thread.  Let's hear what we all come up with!!   :D

i like to play around with composition, but i know nothing of how to upload.  how do you do this if you first record onto a tape?  (do you duplicate the tape onto a cd, and then what?)

i once had the opportunity to look at 'sesame street variations' by a really great composer in ny.  he put them in a minor key, and did some really interesting stuff to them.  also, his handwriting and notewriting was so good.  mine is usually scribbled when ever i have time (which is usually when there is no paper around, so i write my own staff lines, too).  i worked on starbucks melody off the tv.  it's in the bathroom stuffed in with the toothbrushes in case the advertisement comes on tv and i need to write more.
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

I know I sound really dense with all the rest of you comprehending what it's about and all but... what is a "black-knuckle thingy"?
